NEW RULES OF ADMISSION The whole curriculum is in Polish. All candidates (EU and non-EU) need to know the language at least at B2 level to apply. Therefore, the international candidates should follow the Polish version of this site for the details concerning exams.


Tuition Fee

Total course price is 60,500 € (6,050 Euro per semester)

Required documents

  1. Registration on-line in IRK system.
  2. High school graduation diploma, which must be legalized by the Polish Consul in applicant’s country of residence, or if your country is on the Hague Convention list Apostille legalizing the diploma should be provided by a competent authority. In either case the diploma and its legalization/apostille should be translated into Polish by a sworn translator.
  3. NAWA recognition statement on eligibility of the holder for higher education. This can be obtained through KWALIFIKATOR system: https://kwalifikator.nawa.gov.pl/. The recognition may be automatic or - in case of certain countries - individual on request. The latter case requires at least 2 month-waiting.
  4. Documents providing information regarding the course of secondary education leading to high school graduation diploma such as list of subjects, number of tuition hours, grades obtained
  5. Curriculum vitae/resume
  6. Proof of payment for the entrance exam
  7. Passport main page photocopy
  8. Polish language certificate (B2 level at least).



All the documents sent will be verified and if complete the candidate will receive a link for uploading the portfolio.
Then the contents of each portfolio will be assessed and the artistic work viewed. Those applicants, whose portfolios get accepted, will be invited to take part in the entrance exam in Lodz, Poland.

There is an exam fee of 150 PLN, which is supposed to be transferred to the school’s bank account in PeKaO SA bank in advance:

Applications without confirmed payment will be automatically turned down. After submission of documents the examination fee is non-refundable.

Exam

Acceptance into the Cinematography programme will depend on the success of the candidate’s performance in the exam, which tests: their artistic talents, job predispositions, as well as the quality of the candidate’s presented portfolio.

  1. Creating a short scene (3 min.) one shot scene using space and movement.
  2. Photographic task.
  3. Cinematographic analysis of films presented by the Exam Commission.
  4. Interview with the candidate on film, art, literature.
  5. Evaluation of candidate’s artistic work provided with the portfolio and the artistic tasks done during the exam. 
If the exam is held on-line, the candidates are asked to prepare tasks beforehand.


NOTICE. The whole curriculum is in Polish, we do not have any English courses for the time being.

Accommodation

For the duration of the exam all the foreign candidates get accommodation at the dormitory situated at 189/191, Piotrkowska Street.

How to get to the dormitory?

From Łódź Kaliska train station get trams: 8, 10, 14 and get off in Piłsudskiego Street at Piotrkowska Street.

From Łódź Widzew train station take tram 10 and get off at Mickiewicza/ Piotrkowska stop.

From Łódź Lublinek airport take 55 bus and get off in Radwańska Street at Piotrkowska Street.

When you pass the entrance exam and become a student, you will shortly need to apply for the Polish residency permit.


Getting to school

Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre is situated at 61/63 Targowa St.in Lodz. You can get there from:

Łódź Chojny Railway Station
Tram 1 – get off at Kilinskiego/Fabryczna stop.
Łódź Kaliska Railway Station
Tram 10 or 8 – get off at Piłsudskiego/Targowa stop.
Łódź Widzew Railway Station
Tram 10 - get off at Piłsudskiego/Targowa stop.
Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station
Tram 1 or 5 - get off at Piłsudskiego/Fabryczna stop.
Lodz Lublinek Airport
It is possible to reach the School on 55 bus getting off in Tymienieckiego (corner with Kilinskiego Str.) or by taxi, which takes about 30 minutes and costs roughly 35-40 PLN.

Applying for student residency card

FOREIGN STUDENTS FROM NON-EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES

PLEASE REMEMBER TO START THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING THE TEMPORARY RESIDENCY PERMIT WITHIN THE VALIDITY PERIOD OF YOUR VISA.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: 

1. 2 copies of the residency permit application (to be obtained from the Passport Office)
2. 4 passport photos (size: 4,5x3,5cm, colour, left profile and ear exposed)
3. Passport ( the original plus a copy of the page with the photo and a copy of the page with the visa)
4. Certificate of being a student at the Film School also confirming the tuition fee payment
5. Health Insurance Certificate (insurance to be purchased from NFZ (National Health Fund)
6. Bank account with sufficient funds for living expenses and the stay in Poland (635 PLN per month for a period of 15 months), plus funds for the return ticket to the home country: 200PLN (any neighbouring country) 500 PLN (any European country), 2,500 PLN (all non- European countries)

Initially, a decision concerning the residency permit will be issued  (the decision charge – 340 PLN). Then, within a month, the residency card will be issued – charge 25 PLN
