Grzegorz Małecki’s PhD dissertation presentation accompanied by an exhibition "Tempting the World. Votives of Every Day Life" will be held on 22nd January, at the Fine Arts Academy.

A toothbrush, horse-harness, a funnel used to pour fuel into a motorbike, a teddy-bear eaten by moths and sticky from bits of hard candy, a piece of old carpet which you used to roll around on when you were a kid and a ruck-sack, in which father would bring pears from the orchard. These are just a few of the dozens of objects presented at the exhibition ‘Tempting the World. Votives of Every Day Life’ by Grzegorz Małecki: painter, art director and film direction department lecturer at the Lodz Film School.

As the artist himself says, ‘Tempting the World. Votives of Every Day Life’ is a tribute to our every day lives - filled with a huge number of objects. We are merely episodes in the lives of objects. We do not appreciate their role in our lives. My mother’s suspender belt, an aeroplane model put together in my childhood, or a rocking-horse lying in the attic. We exhalt them every day of our lives, like we crown the pictures of Santa Madonna – remarks Grzegorz Małecki on the idea of his work. Grzegorz Malecki has been a very successful art director of many theatre plays. He is undoubtedly one of the most characteristic and colourful members of the teaching staff at the Lodz Film School.

The dissertation presentation will be public and take place at the Fine Arts Academy. The dissertation supervisor is Prof. Andrzej Grenda and its reviewers are: Prof. Ryszard Hunger and Prof. Wojciech Leder. Grzegorz Małecki’s exhibition can be seen at the Fashion Promotion Centre at the Fine Arst Academy in Lodz (121, Wojska Polskiego Street) until 22 January.
