The Łódź Film School will host a unique, intergenerational theatrical triptych entitled "Jakubowska. Jakubowska. Jakubowska." Join us on 9th October at our campus.
The Łódź of Many Cultures Festival has its roots in an event formerly known as the Festival of Dialogue of Four Cultures, and later the Łódź of Four Cultures Festival. It was established almost 25 years ago, at a time when Łódź was struggling to recover from the difficult changes of the 1990s – searching for a new identity and rebuilding a sense of community. From the outset, the Festival has had an important mission: to restore pride in local history and to remind people that Łódź was, and is, a city of many cultures.
"Jakubowska. Jakubowska. Jakubowska." is a unique, intergenerational theatrical triptych – three separate stage events which share a common theme: the life and work of Wanda Jakubowska, the legendary director and "mother of Polish cinema."
This is an artistic encounter with Wanda Jakubowska – a woman who, despite her immense contribution to the history of Polish cinema, remains an ambiguous figure, shrouded in controversy. The event touches on themes of female subjectivity, feminism, cultural memory, and the place of art in the fight for equality and independence.
Individual parts take place in different spaces of the Lodz Film School: the television studio, the school cinema and other spaces, which emphasizes the multidimensionality of the project.
The authors of the show are 4 exceptional artists:
* Weronika Szczawińska – director, playwright, cultural expert, lecturer at the Theatre Academy, winner of the "Polityka" Passport 2019, member of the InSzPer collective, main originator and coordinator of the "Jakubowska Jakubowska. Jakubowska" event.
* Marta Szlasa-Rokicka – director, playwright, theatre scholar, student of the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow.
* Agnieszka Jakimiak and Mateusz Atman – a creative duo combining directing, dramaturgy, and visual arts. Creators of experimental and acclaimed shows such as "Chamstwo"("Rudeness") "Susan Sontag," "Miła robótka" ("Nice Work") and "Drzwi percepcji"("The Doors of Perception").
The programme includes two shows, which will take place on 9, October at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Tickets are available for purchase at the following prices:

reduced ticket – PLN 20
Persons entitled to purchase reduced-price tickets (upon presentation of a valid ID) are: pupils and students up to 26 years of age, pensioners, employees of educational and cultural institutions, members of creative associations and people with disabilities.
