We invite you to the Szklarnia Gallery for the opening of Tomek Albin's exhibition on Thursday 12, June, at 5 p.m.

Colores Absentes, (Absent Colors), is a personal project of Tomek Albin based on an experiment. Its genesis was the series of night photographs „Insomnia”, in which he has been documenting urban space marked by human presence for many years. The photographer does not attempt to reconstruct landscapes - instead, he transfers to the studio space what is the subject of his fascination: light, textures and systems which create the structure of cities. In his compositions, the author uses construction waste and recycled materials - things that are seemingly worthless. He gives them a new context by modifying them: he paints them, juxtaposes, changes their tone and form. Colour, which in Albin's perception breaks away from generally accepted definitions, becomes the main character.

Ambiguous, non-obvious, going beyond the norm – it becomes the subject of research, defining the trajectory of the search: is there only one version of what we see? Colores Absentes is a reflective story about the potential of what is omitted, questionable and rejected.

TOMEK ALBIN proposes looking at reality from a different perspective. Can an error, presented in a different context, reveal its potential? The author, hiding behind the main character of the project, invites you to a world seen through his own filter.
Tomek Albin is a visual artist, photographer and video director who combines the language of art with the aesthetics and tools of the commercial world. His work is a carefully planned and visually coherent dialogue of light, detail and meaning, combining reflection on form with inspirations from geometry, sculpture and nature. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań and the Lodz Film School, where he completed the project Colores Absentes (2025) as the culmination of his doctoral studies. He presented his works in group exhibitions, including Out of Poland at Arena 1 in Santa Monica, USA (2019) and Ressemblances at Galerie HfBK Brühlsche Terrasse in Dresden, Germany (2018). He presented the Talk Dirty to Me project at a solo exhibition at Galeria FF in Łódź (2019). He is a laureate of industry awards such as KTR Awards and Epica Awards. His work has been presented in magazines such as Still Life Selected Views and Lüerzer’s Archive. For many years, he has been a photography lecturer at the Lodz Film School. By running his own master class, he actively supports the development of young artists. Sharing knowledge, inspiring and accompanying new generations on their creative path is an integral part of his professional activity.
