Our graduate's films produced by the Lodz Film School and Indeks Film Studio have a distribution premiere in the United States.

Yellow Vail Pictures is the distributor of Jagoda Szelc's films in the USA. The company, which is based in New York and Los Angeles, distributes art house cinema. Now, it takes under its wing films produced by the Lodz Film School and the Indeks Film Studio operating there. The films "Tower. A Bright Day." and "Monument" , written and directed by a direction graduate from our School, will be available to viewers on iTunes, Amazon, Google play and Vudu.

TOWER. A BRIGHT DAY (2018)

Mula lives with her husband, sick mother and daughter Nina in a country house. On the weekend before Nina's First Holy Communion, Mula’s brother and his family come to visit them, as well as Kaja - Mula's younger sister, who had suddenly disappeared 6 years earlier. Kaja is Nina's biological mother. Mula is afraid that the unbalanced Kaja wants to take her child away. The rest of the family, initially distancing themselves from Kaja, come to believe in a new beginning and reconciliation between the sisters, which adds to Mula's frustration. Mula decides to throw her sister out of the house. On the day of Nina's communion, the sisters are reconciled. However, there is another, more important reason why Kaja came back...

The film was a feature debut of Jagoda Szelc. The DOP was Przemysław Brynkiewicz. Editing - Anna Garncarczyk. Set design - Natalia Giza. Cast: Anna Krotoska, Małgorzata Szczerbowska, Anna Zubrzycki, Dorota Łukasiewicz-Kwietniewska, Rafał Kwietniewski and Rafał Cieluch. The film’s artistic supervisor was Mariusz Grzegorzek. The film was produced by the INDEKS Film Studio which facilitates the professional start of the most talented students and graduates of the school. The studio was founded in 1990 on the initiative of Wojciech Jerzy Has, an outstanding film director, lecturer and Rector of the school; today it bears his name. The producer of the film was Marcin Malatyński.

"Tower. A Bright Day" was very well received at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it was screened in the prestigious FORUM section. The film won awards at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia - for the Best Screenplay and Best Director’s Debut. It also won the Onet Award for "Discovery of the Festival". "Tower. Bright day." also won the Krakow Film Award in the Main Competition "Making Way" of the International Festival of Independent Cinema "Off Camera" and the award for the screenplay of the Koszalin Festival of Film Debuts "Youth and Film".

MONUMENT (2019)

They didn’t know each other as they were a bunch of students from various years.
They knew they had woken up on a cold bus early in the morning. They knew the training was to be run at a hotel by an experienced coach.
They knew it would be a challenge but they didn’t know how big.
They knew time was relative and space becomes an impossible figure.
Monument.

The film “Monument” was a diploma film of Lodz Film School students of acting. Screenplay and direction - Jagoda Szelc. Cinematography - Przemysław Brynkiewicz. Set design - Natalia Giza. Editing – Anna Garncarczyk. Artistic supervision - Mariusz Grzegorzek. Acting students in the cast - Zuzanna Lit, Anna Biernacik, Paulina Lasota, Karolina Bruchnicka, Anna Bolewska, Weronika Asińska, Anna Bieżyńska, Paulina Walendziak, Magdalena Wieczorek, Marta Wiśniewska, Oskar Borkowski, Mateusz Czwartosz, Jakub Gola, Adam Gradowski, Dawid Ptak, Patryk Kabała, Adrian Brząkała, Jakub Matwiejczyk, Mateusz Więcławek, Jakub Zając and Dorota Łukasiewicz-Kwietniewska, with special appearence of Gabriela Muskała and Mirosława Henke. The film’s producer was Agata Golańska. The film was produced by the Lodz Film School in co-production with the Indeks Film Studio and EC1 Lodz – City of Culture.

The film received the Special Award in the "Another View" Competition of the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia, a Special Mention in the Polish Feature Film Competition of the "Off Camera" International Independent Cinema Festival in Krakow and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in New York - for the Best Film, for Best Cast and for Best Sound. "Monument" had its international premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival in the prestigious VOICES section.
