It is an adventurous, interactive report about refugees. The author of the RPG is Jędrzej Napiecek, a graduate of our screenwriting. We recommend it!

Not only films! Our school graduates more often take up work on creating video games. This time we are pleased to present - We. The Refugees: TICKET TO EUROPE.

" You are a thirty-year-old aspiring writer from Warsaw who decides to do something really meaningful for the first time in his life. Soon you will amaze the literary world with your shocking report about refugees - your book will inspire crowds and awaken people's hearts, tear down the walls of intolerance and change the world for the better in all possible ways.

Before you collect the Pulitzer Prize for Literature, all that remains is the trivial matter of actually travelling to Africa to gather your book notes. You have a brilliant plan to pose as a refugee and get on one of the smuggling boats that sail from the coast of Africa towards Europe. It certainly can't be difficult, and you're not crazy at all. Surely… Right?"

This is a description of the plot of the game "We. The Refugees: TICKET TO EUROPE" which premiered on 1, May. The author of its screenplay is Jędrzej Napiecek, a graduate of our screenwriting faculty. It's a mostly text-based game, with illustrations portraying the current course of action and an original 90-minute soundtrack. Its screenplay is gigantic - it has almost 1,300 pages. Monika Dembińska, PhD student of screenwriting, also helped in creating the game.

What should you know about the game?

An important contemporary topic
The game portrays the phenomenon of the so-called "refugee crisis" - a very real challenge that Europe has been struggling with for years, especially on its southern borders.

Rich storyline
The multi-plot screenplay of the game is 2 million characters long, which equals 3-4 novels. Meaningful choices and their consequences lead to multiple plot forks, allowing players to meet new characters and discover new plots during their second and third playthroughs.

A clear presentation of a complex topic
The protagonist is a European who, as an outsider, decides to explore the world of refugees. Thus, the protagonist's perspective is similar to that of the player. The game consciously uses the stereotype of "a white man's journey to an exotic world" and enters into a cultural discussion with him.

Multi-level, original narrative
The game is meta-contextual - it is not only a report about refugees, but also an interactive novel presenting the very process of creating a report. In this way, the player discovers both the hardships of the refugee odyssey and the writer's moral dilemmas related to the exploration of the topic.

A story inspired by real events The writing process was preceded by a series of interviews with refugees who learned about the concept of the game. For this purpose, the creators visited the Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos where they presented the prototype of the game to refugees and volunteers. The script was also consulted by experts from non-governmental organizations.

Main features of the game:
• 10 hours of gameplay in a single playthrough
• In total, about 30 hours of content to discover
• Thousands of dialogue choices!
• Multiple story paths and forks allow up to 3 unique playthroughs Hundreds of traits and items the player can earn
