Postproduction of the film "Wałęsa" which nearly took two years was a search for new solutions including experiments and asking questions – says Milenia Fiedler.

The first film which was screened this year at the school cinema was  "Wałęsa. Man of Hope" by Andrzej Wajda. On 7 January after the screening the students had a meeting with Milenia Fiedler, the editor of "Wałęsa…" and a school lecturer. Together with Andrzej Wajda she aslo edited "Katyn" and "Tatarak".
The encounter was run by Jarosław Kamiński, Lodz Film School lecturer and editor of the films „Jesteś Bogiem” by Leszek Dawid,  "Ida" by Paweł Pawlikowski, "Pokłosie" and "Jack Strong" by Władysław Pasikowski.
- Working on the film was a long and tiring, yet fascinating experience. In fact, there were two editors who worked on the film "Wałęsa. Man of Hope”; Milenia Fiedler and Grażyna Gradoń.
The students asked questions in what way if at all the political context of the events depicted in the film influenced the work of the editors. – I did not see the protagonist in a political context.  Wałęsa for me, like for many other people in the world, has been the icon of the 20th C.- answered Milenia Fiedler. – I kept asking myself what features of character one must have to make crowds follow him and trigger serious political changes.
Another theme which was discussed during the meeting was Andrzej Wajda’s cooperation with other members of the team and his openness to their ideas. – An open formula was a concept present in the work on the film.  - said Milenia Fiedler. – We would ask questions, we tried various solutions, we experimented and created many variations. I have an impression that we still haven’t reached the optimum, but at the same time I realize that the optimum has not been defined as such. Not having it specified  from the start made our work tricky but at the same time challenging and thrilling.
