ANNOUNCEMENT!
 Resolution No. 2 of March 26, 2024 of the Senate of The Polish National Film, Television and Theater School in Lodz, regarding: defining the rules of recruitment, including recruitment conducted electronically for the first year of education at the PWSFTviT Doctoral School. L. Schillera in Lodz, the limit of places for the first year of education at The Doctoral School in the academic year 2024/2025 was set, which is 0 people.
 
Deadlines:
Electronic registration (in the IRK system)         .

The candidate is obliged to submit all documents provided for in the recruitment procedure in electronic form in the IRK system and send by e-mail to the address of the Secretariat.
Art works should be sent in the form of links or using a selected virtual disk.
Documents that will be attached / sent after        will not be considered.


The third stage of recruitment - interview - will be held      .

NOTICE. The whole curriculum is in Polish, we do not have any English courses for the time being. You take the exam in Polish. If the examiners know other languages, they may use them, but it's not their obligation to communicate with candidates in a foreign language.


Required documents

Step 1:
Registration in the Candidates Internet Recruitment system (IRK).  


 Having completed the process, attach the application to the IRK system.

Step 2:
Submission of the following documents in IRK system:
 a) personal application form (kwestionariusz osobowy) containing a declaration/statement of non-involvement with any other doctoral school; declaration/statement of unemployment on the basis of a contract of employment at PWSFTviT or any other university in the position of an academic teacher or researcher at the moment of entering into the list of admitted for the first year and a declaration/statement regarding the selection of the area of scientific and artistic activity: - film and theater directing; - cinematography; - acting; - film production organization; - screenwriting; - film editing; - photography; - authorship of an animated film;
 b) artistic portfolio of one’s own creative work regarding the area of scientific and artistic activity consistent with the declaration;
 c) the original or copy of the diploma confirming the master of arts degree, master of engineering degree or equivalent.
 d) program of workshops / classes for students of the chosen faculty run at the PWSFTviT in Łódź according to Annex No. 1(zał nr 1);
 e) research project related to the selected topic of the doctoral dissertation according to Annex No. 2(zał nr 2);
 f) CV;
 g) at least one written recommendation of the artist practicing an analogous discipline,
 h) document of English language skills at least B2 according to Annex No. 3 (zał.3)  
The foreigner is also obliged to submit a certificate confirming knowledge of the Polish language at least at the B1 language level or a diploma of completion of higher education programs taught in Polish;
 i) 1 photograph (35 mm x 45 mm. format);
 j) signed application attached from the IRK system;
 k) signed RODO form;
 l) proof of payment for the entrance exam.

Recruitment of foreigners:

Foreigners are subject to the same competition procedure as other candidates.
The foreigner is also obliged to submit a certificate confirming the knowledge of the Polish language at least at the B1 language level or a diploma of completion of higher education programs taught in Polish.

A candidate holding a diploma of study abroad recognized as equivalent to the Polish diploma of completion of second-degree MA or uniform MA studies and a professional title of master of arts degree, master of engineering degree or equivalent, is obliged to submit:
1) diploma legalized and marked with an apostille stamp,
2) certificate of recognition, by means of nostrification proceedings, of the equivalence of the diploma in relation to the relevant Polish diploma and professional title - if required in the regulations.

Documents in a foreign language should be submitted by the candidate together with their translation into Polish made by a sworn translator.

Artistic work portfolio

Artistic portfolio of one’s own creative work regarding the area of scientific and artistic activity consistent with the declaration.

Art works, portfolio can be sent as a link or by accessing a virtual disk.

Exam Fee

          PLN
The fee is paid to the individual bank account number, which is assigned in the process of on-line registration of the candidate.
 If the payment is invisible (not confirmed) on the Internet Recruitment System account for more than 3 business days, please send an e-mail with the proof of payment attached to the address b.saramonowicz@filmschool.lodz.pl.
 In case of resignation, please send me an e-mail with the following content: "In connection with the resignation, I am asking for a refund of the enrollment fee in the amount of PLN 85 in the competition procedure for the first year of education at the Doctoral School to the account number: .............. Name and surname of the account owner: .. ........... "

 The Secretariat does not accept the application fee.
 After accepting the documents, the examination fee is non-refundable

Exam

The Doctoral School educates specialists in the field of film and theatre arts.
PhD students at the same time are artists and researchers who in their work combine original creativity with a deepened reflection on reality and the medium of their choice.
Recruitment to the Doctoral School at the Film School in Łódź is conducted on the basis of competition.
The aim of competition is to select the best candidates for education at the Doctoral School by verifying their predispositions assessed on the basis of past experience, artistic and scientific achievements of candidates, description and value of the proposed research project and the results of the interview.

Recruitment process:
Stage 1 
The first stage consists in the formal verification of documents.
All candidates who have submitted a set of documents are qualified for the next stage. In the event of failure to meet the formal requirements of the first stage, the candidate's application will not be considered.

Stage 2 
The second stage involves the evaluation by the selection committee of the files containing the candidate's creative work, the program of workshops / classes for students of the selected faculty at the PWSFTviT in Łódź, the research project plan.
The results of this stage are not communicated to candidates.
All candidates who have submitted a set of documents are qualified for the third stage.
After the third stage, they receive full information about the awarded score.

Stage 3 
The third stage is an interview, the aim of which is to verify the suitability of the candidate in accordance with the profile and assumptions of the Doctoral School.
The subject of the conversation are the program of workshops / classes and the research project submitted by the candidate, as well as general knowledge in the discipline in which the candidate applies for education in the Doctoral School.


Candidates with a disability certificate are subject to the same competition procedure as other candidates.

Non-participation of the candidate in the third stage of the competition is equivalent to receiving 0 points.

The limit of places for the first year of education at the Doctoral School is 0.

The acceptance for the Doctoral School is determined by the highest number of points that allows qualification for the limit of places.

The list of people admitted for the first year will be posted on the university website and on the notice board.

Accommodation

For the duration of the entrance exam, all foreign students taking the exam get free accommodation at the student hall of residence situated at 189/191, Piotrkowska Street.

How do I get to the dormitory?

From Łódź Kaliska train station get trams: 8, 10, 14 and get off in Piłsudskiego Street at Piotrkowska Street.

From Łódź Widzew train station get trams: 8, 10 and get off in Piłsudskiego Street at Piotrkowska Street.

From Łódź Lublinek airport take 55 bus and get off in Radwańska Street at Piotrkowska Street.

When you pass the entrance exam and become a student, you will shortly need to apply for the Polish residency permit.


Getting to school

Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre is situated at 61/63 Targowa St.in Lodz.
You can get there from:

Łódź Chojny Railway Station Tram 1 – get off at Kilinskiego/Fabryczna stop.

Łódź Kaliska Railway Station Tram 10 or 8 – get off at Piłsudskiego/Targowa stop.

Łódź Widzew Railway Station Tram 10 - get off at Piłsudskiego/Targowa stop.

Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station Tram 1 or 5 - get off at Piłsudskiego/Fabryczna stop.

Lodz Lublinek Airport It is possible to reach the School on 55 bus getting off in Tymienieckiego (corner with Kilinskiego Str.) or by taxi, which takes about 30 minutes and costs roughly 35-40 PLN.

Applying for student residency card

FOREIGN STUDENTS FROM NON-EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES

PLEASE REMEMBER TO START THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING THE RESIDENCY PERMIT WITHIN THE VALIDITY PERIOD OF YOUR VISA.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
1. 2 copies of the residency permit application (to be obtained from the Passport Office)
2. 4 passport photos (size: 4,5x3,5cm, colour, left profile and ear exposed)
3. Passport ( the original plus a copy of the page with the photo and a copy of the page with the visa)
4. Certificate of being a student at the Film School also confirming the tuition fee payment
5. Health Insurance Certificate (insurance to be purchased from NFZ (National Health Fund)
6. Bank account with sufficient funds for living expenses and the stay in Poland (635 PLN per month, for a period of 15 months), plus funds for the return ticket to the home country: 200 PLN (any neighbouring country), 500 PLN (any European country), 2,500 PLN (all non- European countries) Initially, a decision concerning the residency permit will be issued (the decision charge – 340 PLN).
Then, within a month, the residency card will be issued – charge 25 PLN.

FOREIGN STUDENTS FROM EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES
