It was an intellectually perverse evening. The discussion with Kuba Mikurda on cinema’s perverse history was followed by 5-hour-long film screening.

During the meeting Kuba Mikurda discussed his latest book „Nie-całość. Žižek, Dolar, Zupančič" devoted to the so called „trio from Ljubljana”: Slavoj Zizka, also called Elvis of the culture studies, the most known representative of the Slovenian School of Psychoanalysis, and his associates: Mladen Dolar and Alenka Zupančič.

The very personal discussion was enriched by fragments of a film he’s now working on which had never been screened before.

As the introduction to the screening of the films based on Slavoj Zizka’s screenplay Kuba Mikurda explained to the audience the main ideas characteristic of the Slovenian School which represents an original viewpoint when it comes to the discussion between the relationship of psychoanalysis and philosophy. – This philosophy is modest, not hermetic, on the contrary, it encourages a discussion, provokes thinking, gives tools for a conversation about the surrounding world – said Mikurda. – Zizek himself makes sure that his philosophy is understandable to ordinary people that is why he makes use of pop-culture deriving examples from American culture and explains difficult issues with familiar notions. Scandal, which he often makes use of, inspires thinking and facilitates getting rid of intellectual clichés. – explained Mikurda.

The introduction into the world of the Slovenian School was followed by a screening of two films: „Z-boczona historia kina” (A Perverse History of Film) & „Perwersyjny przewodnik po ideologiach” (“A Perverse Guide to Ideologies”)
