ENERGY is definitely the key word for Witches of Salem, the play directed by Mariusz Grzegorzek which has been nominated to CULTURE ENERGY.

The performance which commemorates the 70th anniversary of our school’s Acting Dept is a result of close cooperation between the Lodz Film School and Jaracza Theatre. In the play experienced actors and teachers of acting play next to their students. Amongst the cast of „The Witches of Salem” there are: Agnieszka Więdłocha, Ireneusz Czop, Zofia Uzelac (Dean of Acting Dept.), Michał Staszczak (School’s vice-Rector), Matylda Paszczenko and students of acting: Izabela Dudziak, Anna Paliga, Paulina Walendziak and Elżbieta Zajko.

From the very start the play has been very popular among theatre goers and it also received critics’ acclaim being awarded four Golden Masks for the Best Play, Best Direction, Best Actress - Agnieszka Więdłocha for the role of Abigail Williams, and Best Actor - Ireneusz Czop for the role of John Proctor.

Now, the time has come for the vote “Culture Energy” organized by Gazeta Wyborcza, TV TOYA, Klub Wytwórnia and Narodowe Centrum Kultury (National Culture Centre). As "The Witches of Salem" is one of the most energetic plays of the 2016/2017 season, no wonder it is one of the 11 nominees for Best Culture Event in Lodz.
