A film "Nowy Świat" based on the screenplay by our students Monika Dembińska, Iza Aleksandrowicz & Maksymilian Nowicki won the Second Prize in Polish Fiction Film Competition at 9th NETIA OFF CAMERA.
"New World" (Nowy Swiat) presents stories of three young immigrants who try to find a place for themselves in a better world... in Poland.
Monika Dembinska wrote a story about Zanna from Belarus who having left her husband, a political oppositionist, lives with her daughter in Warsaw at her sister’s place and dreams about a new life with her boyfriend in a place of their own. However, her plans get complicated...
In Iza Aleksandrowicz’s story an Afghan, Azzam, who works as a translator for Polish soldiers is treated as a traitor in his country. Having arrived in Poland he is still haunted by the traumatic war events. Will he manage to live in a country where he’ll always be a stranger?
In Maksymilian Nowicki’s screenplay a Ukrainian woman Vera runs away from home to have a sex change operation done in Poland and keep it secret from her family. An unexpected visit of her father and little son make her verify her decision.
