Besides screening 36 student films in competition the14th „Łodzią po Wiśle" Festival will provide extra screenings, workshops and discussion panels.

A special screening of Wojciech Staron’s documentary film „Bracia” (“Brothers”) will open the Festival.

During the „Łodzią po Wiśle” Festival there will be a screening of 4th year direction students’common film project based on Jan Jakub Kolski’s short story “Józef Pokutnik”. The students who directed the project together are: Maciej Buchwald, Magda Jaroszewicz, Katarzyna Lesisz, Eri Mizutani, Dominika Ożarowska, Emilia Śniegoska, Suk Hwa-Hong. Jan Jakub Kolski was the film’s artistic supervisor. After the screening the film-makers will meet the audience.

Graduation and what next?
Association of Polish Animators invites to a discussion „Graduation and what next? How to find one’s place at the Polish animation market?” The participants will be able to find out information about firm which produce animated films, both artistic and commercial.

„MOV TO MUSIC”

Why do film-makers use modern classical music so rarely? Why are they so fond of 19th century Romanticism in music? Do composers and sound designer interfere with each other? Does it make sense to involve a composer in work on the screenplay? These issues will be discussed during a lecture of Jagoda Szmytka and Kuba Mikurda. Besides, the lecture/workshop will involve presentation of the main styles and trends in contemporary music and its representatives, music in modern cinema from Stanley Kubrick to Xavier Dolan; cooperation of contemporary directors with modern music composers e.g. Wojciech Jerzy Has & Krzysztof Penderecki, Łukasz Barczyk & Hanna Kulenty.

Directors and Critics Talk
The meetings of film-makers and film critics devoted to discussions on the condition and the future of the Polish cinema were initiated and took place at the Lodz Film School. Now, Kuba Mikurda, Joanna Ostrowska and Jagoda Murczyńska will analyze student films and will try to determine the direction of Polish cinema development and the role of Polish film-makers and critics in the process.
