The candidate for Rector for the new term Prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek during the pre-election meeting with school community spoke about “down to earth” issues and most precious things worth fighting for.
This Thursday, April 14, 35 members of the election committee will officially choose the candidate for the post for the new term.
Here are a few excerpts from Rector Grzegorzek’s pre-election speech:
- For years ago I was disappointed with the situation in the school.
I realized that either I’d change it or I’d have to quit. The school is very important to me. It's a place I’m emotionally attached to. That’s why, I decided to take full responsibility for it.
- It’s important to keep the status quo. As long as the school remains the place of artistic education and an energetic relationship Master-Apprentice based on deep human bond, it should be defended.
- I don’t like bragging but I think that over the last 4 years the school has changed a lot. It is perceived in a very positive way in Poland and abroad as a place where things are happening. No matter how general this belief may seem it is very important to us because it is a result of our mutual effort.
- I’m happy about every initiative, creative approach to the world we live in. Everybody who wishes to contribute to the artistic character of the place is appreciated here.
- Academic glamour does not appeal to me. I don’t like power which is artificially imposed. I distrust the so called „personal culture” which may cover evil intentions. In interpersonal contacts we have at the school I am open and direct and I don’t intend to change it. I prefer sincerity, confrontation and firy discussions to frequent fake „elegant care”.
