One of the Polish most interesting artists, Zbigniew Libera, will be a guest in the class "Polish art – selected issues". The meeting with the artist already this Friday, 20, March at 5 p.m.

Zbigniew Libera is one of the most important Polish artists who belongs to the "Critical Art". His works - photographs, video films, installations, objects and drawings – in a penetrating and intellectually perverse way interact with contemporary culture stereotypes. His shocking video works from 1980s (amongst them "Obrzędy intymne" and "Perseweracja mistyczna") appeared 10 years prior to the "body art" trend.

In the mid 1990s, Libera started making "Corrected devices" – objects created from already existing mass consumption products (amongst them "Universal Penis Expander" and "Body Master. Play set for children under 9 years of age").

The artist also designs and transforms toys, produces works which reveal mechanisms of the up-bringing process, education and culture conditioning, "Lego. Obóz koncentracyjny", being the most known one. The artist being a representative of the so called critical art despite his shooting career has been closely connected with independent art circles. In recent years he has been involved mostly in photography and film.

The meeting with the artist is a part of dr Anna Leśniewska-Zagrodzka’s class "Polish art – selected issues".
