The best television play of the last year, „Skutki uboczne” by Leszek Dawid, based on Petr Zelenka’s texts, this Thursday at the school cinema. After the screening - a meeting with the director.

The play „Skutki uboczne” directed by a Lodz Film School direction lecturer, Leszek Dawid, was recognized the Best Television Play of the last year during the "Two Theatres" Festival in Sopot. The television play was shot by Łukasz Gutt (DOP of „Ki” by L Dawida and „Jeziorak” by Michał Otłowski) starring, among others, Krzysztof Stroiński, Anna Radwan, and Dawid Ogrodnik. Petr Zelenka, a playwright and director, the author of „Skutki uboczne” is known to cinema goers for such films as „Samotni”, „Guzikowcy” and „Opowieści o zwyczajnym szaleństwie”. He has created an author’s original, full of Czech humour, tragicomical style.

Zelenka poses questions about morals : do people still have strong morals? Is rebel possible in a democtracy, and if yes, at what expense? The main protagonist of „Skutki uboczne”, Jerzy (played by Krzysztof Stroiński), is a talented photographer, whose daring photos are not only at a high artistic level but also reveal evident social and political engagement. Jerzy, who used to be a freedom fighter, is known for firm morals. He gets persuaded by young advertising agency staff members to participate in an advertisement of some pharmaceutical products. The situation gets more complicated when it turns out that the medicine being advertised contains a harmful and dangerous ingredient.

Leszek Dawid is a Lodz Film School direction graduate and lecturer. In 2004, he received a  „Polityka” Passport nomination for a student documentary film „Bar na Viktorii” (2003). He is a director of fiction films „Ki” (2011) and „Jesteś bogiem” (2012). The screening of the television play „Skutki uboczne” will take place at the school cinema this Thursday at 7 p.m. The screening will be followed be a meeting with the director, Leszek Dawid.
