Early in the morning of 23rd, February, a possible great triumph of Polish cinema can be also witnessed in Targowa Street, where the Lodz Film School community will follow a live broadcast of the American Film Academy Awards ceremony from Hollywood. The meeting in Targowa will be reported by Ryszard "Rico" Jaźwiński (“Trójkowo, filmowo”, “Fajny film”) on Radio Three.

This year there are five Oscar nominations for Polish artists: Paweł Pawlikowski’s "Ida" may be awarded twice: for the Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography – nomination for Ryszard Lenczewski (Lodz Film School graduate and lecturer) and Łukasz Żal (Lodz Film School cinematography graduate). In the Best Documentary Short Subject category two films have been nominated: "Joanna" by Aneta Kopacz (camera operator: Łukasz Żal) and "Our Curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński and Maciej Ślesicki. Anna Biedrzycka – Sheppard has been nominated in the Costume Design category for the film "Maleficent").
