The 65th Berlinale Festival starts this Friday screening Jakub Michnikowski and Sebastian Weber’s film "Maja" and our graduate, Małgorzata Szumowska’s film "Body".

The 65th Berlinale Festival starts this Friday screening Jakub Michnikowski and Sebastian Weber’s film "Maja" in the Generation Kplus section and our graduate, Małgorzata Szumowska’s film "Body" in the Festival Main Competition.

The film "Maja" is about coming to terms with the death of a relative. The main character in the film, a girl called Maja, has to face the death of her beloved grandpa. Jakub Michnikowski, a fifth year direction student, is the director of the film "Maja". Sebastian Weber, third year cinematography student, performed the role of the director of photography and assistant director on the project. The film produced by the Lodz Film School was made under the artistic supervision of Józef Romasz, Krzysztof Ptak and Stefan Czyżewski. The film will be screened at the Berlinale International Film Festival in the Generation Kplus section.

The film "Body" by Małgorzata Szumowska, a Lodz Film School direction graduate, will be screened in the Main Competition of the 65th Berlinale Festival. The films in the competition will be judged by the international jury: Darren Aronofsky – Jury President, Daniel Brühl, Bong Joon-ho, Martha De Laurentiis, Claudia Llosa, Audrey Tautou and Matthew Weiner. All the films in the main competition, including the film "Body", will compete for the following awards: the Golden Lion for the Best Film, the Silver Lion for Best Direction, Awards for Best Actor/Actress, Best Screenplay, the Alfred Bauer Award for setting new trends in film art, as well as Awards for Best Cinematography, Music, Editing and Costumes. The film "Body" is Małgorzata Szumowska’s fourth fiction film to be presented at the Berlin Festival and also the second one in the Main Competition. The first one, "W imię...", received the Teddy Award in 2013.

The Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. For the first time the festival was organized in 1951.
