We invite you to an exhibition by our photography student, Piotr Piad Podsiadły. The opening and an artist’s performance will take place on 23, Oct. at 7 p.m. at Jaga Hupało Space of Creation, Warsaw

An exhalation has no fixed shape, yet it reveals the presence of a body. It can be heard, felt, and recognized through the traces it leaves behind. The exhibition "Exhale of the Deity" begins at precisely this point—the moment when that which is internal and invisible crosses the threshold of matter, becoming a gesture, a sign, a body, or an image. At the heart of the project lies the body, understood as a space for registering, memory, and transformation. The unique signs created by Piotr Piad Podsiadły are not confined to a single medium; they migrate from paper to skin, turning the body into a living, moving surface for imagery. They do not constitute an alphabet intended for a singular, definitive reading; rather, they function as traces of energy, rhythm, and presence—a record of what unfolds in the interplay between breath, gesture, and matter. While photography serves as the exhibition’s point of departure, painting, drawing, sculpture, body painting, performance, and new media emerge as subsequent states of this same transformation. Photography captures its trace, the body sets the sign in motion, sculpture lends it weight, and new media introduce the image into the dimension of time.

The title "Exhale of the Deity" can be interpreted as a metaphor for emanation—the moment when invisible energy acquires boundaries and takes on form. It does not depict the Deity itself, but rather observes the instant when the invisible becomes present, as well as the traces left behind following its disappearance.

PERFORMANCE AT THE OPENING An integral part of the exhibition opening will be a performance by Piotr Piad Podsiadły. The artist’s breath, captured and amplified by a microphone, will set the rhythm for the creation of calligraphy on a „tondo” (a circular panel). The movements of dancers adorned with body paint will bring the signs on their skin to life, while light, sound, and matter will construct the space for this one-time event. The resulting „tondo” will remain as its material trace.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Piotr Piad Podsiadły (born in Opoczno in 1997) is a Polish interdisciplinary visual artist originally from Potworów, currently based in Łódź. He is a graduate of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, where he earned a Master of Arts degree in 2022. While photography remains the primary medium of his practice, he also explores painting, graphic design, drawing, sculpture, body painting, performance art, and new media—including video art, generative imagery, projection mapping, and interactive installations. His work operates at the intersection of the body, signs, matter, and technology, addressing themes of memory, transformation, and the sacred. He won first place in the Portrait category at the Viva Competition. Photo Awards 2022, received the "Definition of Space" medal at the 6th International Photography Biennale in Kielce (2024), won Rejwach vol. 3 (2024), and was a laureate of the "Exhibit at the CCA 2025" ("Wystaw się w CSW 2025") competition.
