The student film THE GLOOM—directed by Katarzyna Kosajda and Jan Sokala (who also served as the cinematographer)—has been selected for the Student Film Competition at the Toruń CAMERIMAGE Festival.
The Film Competition for Film and Art School Students (formerly known as the Student Film Competition) was established in 1997. Its aim is to foster the development of young aspiring filmmakers from film schools around the world and to showcase their work. Each year, the winners are selected by an international jury composed of acclaimed film industry professionals and others from the worlds of art and culture.
This year, 20 student films from art schools in countries such as Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, Israel, Germany, the United States, Sweden, the UK, and Italy were nominated for the competition.
Among the nominees is Jan Sokala, a cinematography student who served as the cinematographer and co-director (with Katarzyna Kosajda) of the film THE GLOOM.
Film synopsis: A social worker witnesses some disturbing events. She decides to trust her intuition and find answers to the questions that trouble her.
