"We believe that it matters who stands behind the camera, and that non-fiction cinema is one of the best tools for sparking discussion and inspiring change. We screen films which are important to us and go beyond the conventions of traditional documentary filmmaking. We curate a distinctive programme—open to experimentation—which explores the world and contemporary challenges with sensitivity and attentiveness," the festival organizers write on their website.

The HER DOCS Festival runs from 1 to 6, October.

The programme features student documentaries and animated films from the Lodz Film School.
