"OKO WYKOL" is a collection of essays on cinema which resists the gaze. Kuba Mikurda writes about filmmakers and films—from Guy Maddin and the Quay Brothers to Walerian Borowczyk, Andrzej Żuławski, Wilhelm Sasnal, and Tsai Ming-liang—tracing elements that seduce, unsettle, and elude simple interpretations. Here, psychoanalysis serves not to close off meanings but to open them up; it becomes an art of attentive looking and listening, a way of describing the forms, objects, fantasies, and fissures through which cinema reveals the hidden logic of reality.
