The diploma play of the Acting Department, THE TRAP, directed by Adam Orzechowski, will be presented on the stage of the J. Kochanowski Theatre in Opole on 14, June, at 6 p.m.

The "Living Classics" Competition for the Staging of Old Works from Polish Literature is organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute.

The name "Living Classics" indicates the organizers' intentions to encourage artists to engage with early plays created in a different historical and cultural context, offering insights into people who are different from us and often quite surprising.

The decision will be made during the 50th OPOLE THEATRE CONFRONTATIONS, which runs from 11 to 21, June.

Students of the Acting Department will present the play "THE TRAP" on Sunday, 14th, June at 6 p.m. at the J. Kochanowski Theatre in Opole.

"THE TRAP" is the acting students' graduation play for the 2025/2026 theatre season.

Tadeusz Różewicz's "The Trap," written in 1979, is an attempt to reconcile the author with the spiritual and cultural heritage of the 20th century. The key to this reconciliation was the biography of Franz Kafka. We note how relevant this text remains despite the passage of time, and we wish to draw particular attention to disturbing, recurring patterns. "The Trap" is, above all, the story of a lost man, immersed in inevitable suffering, repeatedly falling into the traps set by himself—his body, history, and those closest to him. Franz sacrifices himself, his time, his life, and his health on the altar of literature. He sacrifices himself... But is the "sacrificial lamb" not actually a beast?
