Łukasz Żal will be the guest speaker at a meeting following the screening of the film FATHERLAND, directed by P. Pawlikowski, on 11, June at 6 p.m. at the Charlie Cinema.
Łukasz Żal is one of the most outstanding Polish cinematographers, twice nominated for an OSCAR® for his work on "Ida" and "Cold War." He is also the co-creator of the visual side of such productions as "The Zone of Interest", "Hamnet" and the latest "Fatherland". A graduate of the Cinematography and Television Production Department at the Lodz Film School, he has worked with the most outstanding filmmakers for years, and his distinctive style and extraordinary visual sensitivity have earned him recognition worldwide.
On Thursday, 11, June, at 6 p.m., Charlie Cinema will host a pre-premiere screening of "Fatherland", the latest film by Paweł Pawlikowski' who won the Best Director award at the recent 79th Cannes Film Festival. After the screening, there will be a Q&A with Łukasz Żal, the film's cinematographer.
Tickets are 15 PLN for our entire school community: students, faculty, and staff. Available for purchase at the Charlie Cinema box office.
Film synopsis:
"Fatherland" tells the story of the relationship between Thomas Mann (Hanns Zischler), winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, and his daughter Erika (Sandra Hüller), an actress and writer. The action takes place at the height of the Cold War. Father and daughter embark on a difficult, emotional journey in a black Buick through ruined Germany – from Frankfurt under American control to Weimar under Soviet influence. For the first time since the end of the war, Mann returns to his homeland, having previously made the difficult decision to emigrate to the United States.
