SLAM Animation, one of the most important events promoting new animation in Poland, is behind us. Among the winners are our student team: Z. Kańska, M. Szymula, D. Kicińska, and P. Kaźmierczak.

The 7th National Live Animation Festival ran from 6 to 8, May.

Each year, animation students from art schools across Poland participate. SLAM consists of several competition segments and a conference segment, during which animation and new media lecturers from universities, associations, and institutions share their educational experiences.

In the main part of the event—a two-day project to create a short animation on a given topic—the Lodz Film School was represented by first-year animation and special effects students: Zofia Kańska, Melita Szymula, and Dominika Kicińska. Their team took second place, winning the InvestGDA Foundation Award of PLN 2,000. A statuette also traveled from the seaside to Lodz for first-year student Piotr Kaźmierczak, the author of the film TIK-TAK, which he received as a result of audience voting in the “Exercise” Competition.

Our School was represented at the event by Dr. Marcin Podolec, and Prof. Aleksandra Chrapowicka was the coordinator.

Congratulations!

Animation SLAM is organized by the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and its initiator and coordinator is Dr. Robert Turło.
