The fiction film SLAP!!, directed by M. Piszczan, takes the Węgiel Film Festival by storm, winning the Best Film Award and the Best Cinematography Award for cinematographer Stefan Żółtowski.

The 23rd Węgiel Film Festival in Katowice concluded on 25th, April. The jury consisted of Joanna Łapińska, Kuba Czekaj, and Magdalena Chowańska.

We are pleased to announce that the fiction dipolma film SLAP!!, directed by Mikołaj Piszczan won two awards:

* Best Fiction Film Award Voucher for Editorium services in the amount of PLN 25,000 and PLN 5,000 in cash.

* Best Cinematography Award for Stefan Żółtowski ATM SYSTEM services voucher worth PLN 10,000 for lighting equipment rental.

Among the winners was also Mieszko Chomka, our directing student, who won the Best Short Documentary award for his film LET’S LEAVE IT UNTITLED (produced by the Wajda School).

Mikołaj has already received several awards and distinctions in Poland for his graduation film, including the Lucjan Bokiniec Award for best short film at the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

Film synopsis: A troubled man finds an outlet for his emotions in brutal slap fighting competitions. In his quest for recognition, he gradually pushes boundaries, regardless of the consequences.
