This is the second year in a row that the directing and cinematography students from the Film School in Katowice have been joined by editing students from the Lodz Film School and lecturers, Agata Cierniak and Michał Poddębniak. This year, Marcin Lesisz (who replaced Tomasz Woźniczko) was the supervising cinematographer.

This inter-university collaboration has become a permanent and exceptionally valuable element of the workshops. Encounters between different sensibilities, experiences, and ways of thinking about film are a daily occurrence.

"The goal and the guiding principle of the workshops is to develop and test tools for documentary filmmaking". It is also an attempt to instill in the students a love of documentary cinema as a form of cinematic expression. Directors look for characters and, together with cinematographers, shoot the film, while editors accompany them on set, supporting the creative process and developing the first scenes. The next stage is the work of the editors, who transform the collected footage into fully-fledged short films.

In June, we'll all gather at the Film School Cinema to watch the results of our collaboration during the exam.
