Professor Marek Troszyński, a literary historian specializing in Romantic literature and an outstanding expert on the works of Juliusz Słowacki, was the guest at the Acting Department.

Marek Troszyński, professor at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, met with acting students to share his knowledge about the life and work of the outstanding writer of the Romantic period.

"It seems to me that when it comes to school knowledge about Słowacki, it is the absolute minimum: fragments of dramas, poems, but only the most popular and most trivial ones. In my opinion, however, the real Słowacki is hidden in those fragments of his work which do not necessarily have a chance of coming to light, into the realm of popular culture," the professor explained.

The meeting was held under the slogan "Juliusz Słowacki – poet of parabasis".

Students had the opportunity to participate in an in-depth analysis of Juliusz Słowacki's work and look at the writer's texts through an autobiographical context, and were also able to understand the literary techniques which were innovative for the time.

The lecture was held at the invitation of Dr. Anna Sarna and the Dean of the Acting Department Prof. Piotr Seweryński.

Thank you for visiting us, Professor!
