Dedo Weigert, a director, cinematographer, film producer and innovator, founded a production company and film equipment rental company Dedo Weigert Film in 1965. He distributed film equipment, solved technical problems, and met the needs of cinematographers. The DedoLight system, which Weigert created, revolutionized the work of cinematographers worldwide. Dedo Weigert held over twenty technical patents for his technical inventions. He received numerous international awards for his contributions to the technical development of film, including two Oscars and an Emmy Award.

Dedo Weigert was a friend and mentor to our Cinematography and Television Production Department. He led workshops which allowed us to explore the history and future of cinematography. He shared his knowledge and technical discoveries with us with great passion.

His passing is a huge loss for the film world.
