The Film and Art School Student Film Competition is a section of particular interest to young cinematographers. We are proud to announce that we will be screening three films in the competition.

The Student Film Competition was established in 1997. Its goal is to develop young filmmakers and showcase films created under the supervision of international film schools. Each year, the competition jury comprises renowned filmmakers and representatives of the world of art and culture.

EnergaCAMERIMAGE Festival is one of the most important and prestigious events for cinematographers in the world.
Its 33rd edition runs in Toruń from 15th to 22nd, November.

The Student Film Competition of Film and Art Schools includes two films by cinematography students and one by a student of direction.

Here they are:

THE HOTEL (film by a cinematography student)
direction and cinematography: Halil Tanisan

Film synopsis: A man arrives at a desolate hotel, its eerie silence wrapping around him like a warning. As he wanders the dimly lit corridors, he finds no sign of life, only a lone, unattended meal waiting in the dining room, which he decides to eat. By nightfall, violent illness takes hold. In a desperate search for help, he staggers through the hotel’s darkness.

NS4 (cinematography student’s film)
direction and cinematography: Paweł Jach

Film synopsis: An employee at the National Research Institute NS4 works on projects to safeguard the viability of organic life.

SERVICE (directing student’s film)
direction: Michał Edelman
cinematography: Nikodem Marek

Film synopsis: Peter is perpetually broke. By night he fronts an underground band; by day he waits tables in a hotel restaurant. At an exclusive corporate party he is under constant pressure: serving difficult clients, placating his eternally dissatisfied boss, and offloading drugs to Joan, a foreign hotel guest. All while nursing a brutal hangover.

In total, 23 films will compete for the Golden Tadpole.
