The British Independent Film Awards are an independent awards show which aims to recognise outstanding talent and also recognise the integrity of film industry practices which enrich the cultural landscape of the UK.
The BIFA awards have been held since 1998. This year marks the 28th annual awards ceremony. The craft winners will be announced on November 20th, and the full list of winners will be announced on November 30th.

Piotr Niemyjski, our graduate of the Cinematography and Television Production Department received a nomination for a British award for cinematography in the film A PALE VIEW OF HILLS directed by Kei Ishikawa, a graduate of directing from the Lodz Film School.

The co-producer is Lava Films – Mariusz Włodarski, our graduate and lecturer, and Marta Gmosińska – also a graduate of film and TV production.

The film had its international premiere at the MFF Cannes 2025.

A PALE VIEW OF HILLS (Jap. TÔI YAMANAMINO HIKARI) is a film based on the debut novel by Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro.

Film synopsis: An aspiring young writer born and raised in England decides to trace her mother's fate in post-war Nagasaki. However, the unexplained suicide of her older sister makes it difficult for her mother to reveal the truth about her past.
