EMI BUCHWALD receives Ministry of Culture Award

Our directing graduate, this year's feature film debutant, award-winning director, EMI BUCHWALD, received the Annual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the FILM category.

During a gala ceremony at the Polish History Museum, Minister Marta Cienkowska presented awards in 14 categories. These awards went to creators, animators, people involved in culture, and representatives of institutions whose work contribute significantly to the development, dissemination, and protection of culture and national heritage.

In the FILM category, the award was received by Emi Buchwald.

A graduate of the Film and Television Directing Department of the Leon Schiller National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź and the documentary course at the Andrzej Wajda School of Film Directing. She made her debut in 2010 with the short documentary "Brothers."
Her subsequent projects include "Science" (2016), "Heimat" (2017), and "A Beautiful Wildflower Meadow" (2022). In 2025, her feature debut, „Nie ma duchów w mieszkaniu na Dobrej” (No Ghosts on Good Street) premiered. The film won numerous awards, including two individual awards for directing and casting at the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. She has won dozens of film awards and is praised for her subtle narrative and sensitivity to social issues.

Wojciech Mann received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Awards were also presented to winners in other categories: visual arts, cultural animation, theatre, dance, music, cultural promotion, literature, folk culture, heritage protection, architecture and space, and patron of culture.
