From Match to film Fire. We invite you to the National Independent Film Festival FIRE IN THE HEAD, which runs from 3 to 4, October at the Municipal Culture Centre-MOK in Zgierz.

The National Independent Film Festival "Fire in the Head" is entering its next decade. It's a good time to introduce new programming, as the needs of filmmakers and festival audiences have been identified to a point where the organizers can boldly address them.

Hence the idea for an additional competition focused on young filmmakers. The 21st edition of "Fire in the Head" will kick off with Match – a competition for teenagers from across Poland.

The jury will include representatives of Zgierz youth organizations and groups (EZG Association, Zgierz Youth City Council, and the editorial staff of the monthly Cebula), as well as professionals: directors Jan Bujnowski and Kinga Pudełek, both graduates of the Lodz Film School. The audience will also award their prize.

The Match competition will feature 10 films, and the winning film will be presented during the main competition, "Fire in the Head" which is scheduled for Saturday, 4 October.

The films will be judged by jurors Jan Bujnowski, Natalia Jacheć (editor, graduate of the Lodz Film School), and Agnieszka Waszczeniuk (animated film director), who will award the festival's Grand Prix after watching 18 films. In this competition, the audience will also vote for their favourites, awarding a separate prize.

In addition to the competitions, the organizers are planning several additional attractions and accompanying events: screenwriting workshops with Jan Bujnowski, a pre-premiere screening of the film "Szkoda, że nareszcie", the closing ceremony of the exhibition of production photos from the film "The Girl with the Needle" by Łukasz Bąk, a special meeting with the competition jurors, and film music competitions.
