The Marshal's Office supported the promotion of studies in the Łódź region and projects aimed at encouraging young people to choose our region as a modern place for learning & professional development
This support for universities is a new development. It's the first regional government project to broadly promote Łódź and the Łódź Voivodeship as an academic centre with a diverse and modern educational offers. Plans include academic conferences, workshops, and training sessions, for example, on self-presentation for high school students and teachers, nationwide festivals and artistic events, as well as publications about the universities and image campaigns.
Seven higher education institutions in Łódź and Piotrków Trybunalski will implement all of this, funded by PLN 3 million from the Łódź Voivodeship budget. At the Museum of Art in Ogrodowa Street in Łódź, Joanna Skrzydlewska, Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship, and Artur Ostrowski, member of the Łódź Voivodeship Board, signed agreements with the university rectors. The Marshal's Office of the Łódź Voivodeship donated the funds – ranging from PLN 225,000 to PLN 700,000 – to the University of Łódź, Lodz University of Technology, Medical University, W. Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts, G. and K. Bacewicz Academy of Music, L. Schiller National Film, Television and Theatre School, and Piotrków Academy.
Our School was represented by Rector, Milenia Fiedler.
"We are meeting under exceptional circumstances to emphasize the importance of cooperation between the voivodeship government and the academic community. You are the heart of intellectual and cultural life and the driving force behind the economic development of our region. We recognize this and want this cooperation to be a response to your needs. For us, every złoty donated to the academic community is a long-term investment in the development of the voivodeship," said Marshal Joanna Skrzydlewska.
"I am convinced that the funds we are providing you with today will be spent in a way that will contribute to ensuring that in the future we can enjoy even more students who will want to choose universities in our region."
The Film School has received PLN 225,000 for classes for potential students. A book about the legendary school and its ties to Łódź will be published, and an international academic conference on film production in the 21st century will be organized, with a particular focus on locations in our region.
