We invite you to the Art Book Museum in Łódź for an exhibition dedicated to the visual side of books. One of the exhibition's highlights is the book SKIN by our prof Izabela Łapińska. Opening: 25 July
The Art Book Triennial is a platform in the cultural space of Central Europe for creators who believe that the medium of the book is a lasting source of artistic inspiration and the basis for individual creative programmes. At the end of these efforts lies a true work of art: the art book, a unique blend of artistic, craft, and technical disciplines, with a personal artistic language and a specific vision.
The diverse approaches to the art book in contemporary visual art offer artists limitless possibilities. Much like visual art, it offers space for experimentation, playing with form and content, and communication with the audience. Artists' books often contain a balance of text and image, where words and visual elements communicate harmoniously, creating a clear language.
Artists’ books can incorporate text and visual elements created by the same artist; they can be typographic projects, purely visual works, or photography books. In cases where an artist's book lacks text, the visual information takes the lead, conveying the book's message. And the title of the book or artwork can serve as a key to understanding its meaning. (...)" - Jarmila Kováčová and Gina Renotière.
The Triennial brought together many European artists, including our professor at the Department of Film Art Organization, Izabela Łapińska, author of the award-winning book SKIN (more info about this unusual book: filmschool.lodz.pl/news )
We invite you to the opening on 25, July (Friday) at 6 p.m.
Venue: Grohman Villa,
24, Tymienieckiego Street, Łódź
Tickets: 5 or 10 PLN (for details, contact the exhibition organizer) - admission is FREE on the day of the opening!
The exhibition is available until 1, October.
