From 1 to 3, July, our animation was in Portugal.

The project "Panorama of Polish Animation based on films by lecturers and students of the L. Schiller National Film School in Łódź" is ongoing.

On July 1st and 2nd, creative workshops were held at ESAD in Matosinhos, near Porto. The workshops, which covered various animation techniques and classic hand-drawn animation, were led by Aleksandra Chrapowicka, a lecturer at our school; the others were led by third- and fourth-year animation students: Zuzanna Heller, Agnieszka Popińska, Aleksandra Andrijewska, and Kinga Garncarz. The workshops were open to ESAD students and lecturers, as well as students and lecturers from other universities, and students and teachers from secondary schools in Porto.

On July 2nd, the Portuguese school’s cinema hosted a screening of films by our faculty and students, and its gallery hosted the opening of the "Various Animation Techniques" exhibition. The exhibition showcased works revealing the behind-the-scenes of the creation of animated films made in various techniques. Alongside the faculty's work, there were also student works.

On July 3rd, there was a special screening of our student films at the Batalha cinema in the heart of Porto. It provided an opportunity for cinemagoers to meet the filmmakers and discuss the filmmaking process.

Thanks to the project's presence in Porto, workshop participants and viewers had the opportunity to experience Polish culture, learn about the craft of animated filmmaking, and see how animated filmmakers' perceptions of the world have changed over the years. The publication accompanying Panorama, illustrated by second-year animation student Aniela Jadczak, generated considerable interest.

In October, we will return to the Belgian capital, where another screening of our films and creative workshops will take place at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles.

The project was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Cultural Promotion Fund.

The project is under the Honorary Patronage of the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship, Joanna Skrzydlewska.
