We say goodbye to Brussels, because the next stop is ahead of us: Porto. The Polish Animation Panorama project is ongoing and animated films created over the last 30 years will be shown in Portugal.
Panorama of Polish Animation is a project presenting films by lecturers and students of the L. Schiller National Film School in Łódź.
The first show took place on 27, May at the Flagey Culture Centre in Brussels. It was a screening of animated films made over 30 years of teaching animated film and special effects at the Department of Cinematography and Television Production at the Lodz Film School.
The first part featured films by lecturers, including Piotr Dumała, Agata Gorządek, Marcin Podolec and Piotr Milczarek. The next part was dedicated to children and included films by Joanna Jasińska-Koronkiewicz and Aleksandra Chrapowicka.
However, the screening was dominated by student films, both older ones, such as: AB OVO by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi, KIGO by Izumi Yoshida, and newer ones: THE NOSE by Julia Marchowska, FIVE MINUTES OLDER by Sara Szymańska, THIS IS NOT A BATH by Pola Włodarczyk, LOVE IN THE TIME OF INFLATION by Zuzanna Heller, and those which have been awarded at many national and international festivals: I’M HERE by Julia Orlik, HEADPRICKLES by Katarzyna Miechowicz and THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE FOREST by Szymon Ruczyński, SUCH MIRACLES DO HAPPEN by Barbara Rupik.
Panorama is a show of different animation techniques, different artistic styles, but above all, a diverse reception of the changing world. The show included short first-year-student films, but also much longer diploma works.
The PANORAMA OF POLISH ANIMATION catalogue published in English by the Lodz Film School Publishing House enjoyed great interest. The cover and illustrations included were designed by Aniela Jadczak, a second-year student of animated film.
After Brussels, Panorama of Polish Animation will visit Portugal in July. On July 3, we will show films at the Batalha cinema in Porto and at the ESAD university in Matosinhos. The screenings will be accompanied by creative workshops on various animation techniques, which will be run by students of animated film.
