The film made by our graduates NOTHING ABOUT YOU SCARES ME, dir. Justyna Nowak, will be shown at the 9th Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival in Hungary.
The Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival is a Hungarian festival of cinematographers, whose patron is the outstanding, Oscar-winning Hungarian cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond. This year's edition runs from 27 to 31, May.
NOTHING ABOUT YOU SCARES ME is an attempt to tackle the genre of melodrama, here called ‘a post-hipster melodrama’. The film refers to the works of Wojciech Jerzy Has, in particular to the film ‘How to be loved’. The film tells a story of three friends during the realisation of a theatrical play based on Aristophanes' ‘Birds’.
The director of the film is Justyna Nowak, a graduate of the Film and Television Directing Department; the cinematographer is Szymon Kluz, a graduate of the Cinematography and Television Production Department and doctoral studies at our School. Justyna and Szymon previously studied photography at our school.
Among the filmmakers there are also other graduates of our school: camera operators – Mateusz Czuchnowski and Andrzej Woźniakiewicz (cinematography graduates), editor – Tomasz Ciesielski (editing graduate who is also the executive producer of the film), assistant director – Jędrzej Wielecki (graduate of acting). The film stars a graduate and lecturer at the Lodz Film School – Agnieszka Skrzypczak, as well as: second director – Barbara Bladowska, graduate of film and television production; in the production: Anna Balkiewicz, Magda Rzońca, Klaudia Preyss, Kasia Stasiełuk – graduates of the Faculty of Film Art Organization.
The film was produced by the Munk Studio.
NOTHING ABOUT YOU SCARES ME had its first international screening at the 74th Berlinale International Film Festival, during the European Film Market. It received the Cinematic Award at the 18th Thessaloniki International Festival and the Grand-Prix for Best Short Film at the film festival organised by Queen's University in Belfast - Eutopia Arthouse Film Festival.
