What is the essence of red, green, blue? How to understand what the Large Magellanic Cloud is? How to embrace it without seeing it? A coral reef, lychee fruit, a lion, the ocean, smoke, Indian summer - how to see them, let alone capture them in words, or feel them, and then tell about this feeling.

* Who are we?

The Zmyslownia. Workshop of Socially Good Culture project was created out of the need to work on an accessible language. We have been operating in the cultural space for years and feel that there is a lack of activities in the area of linguistic accessibility, communication inclusiveness, which will not be reduced to declarations and good intentions.

This is how we understand accessibility – it is not only meeting the needs of people with disabilities, but also acting for the benefit of all of us, living in an era of overstimulation, distraction and difficulties in communication. Accessibility is for us. It is opening up to diversity, multiple voices, to different ways of perceiving and feeling the world. It is creating such messages which include everyone in the community of understanding, and also in the area of culture and art.

* What are we doing?

We are looking for language. We will touch Van Gogh's shoes. We will talk to Vermeer's milkmaid. We will look for words for the actor's grimace (did he just bite a bitter orange peel?). We will close our eyes and give voice to our fingers (what is the temperature of the soap?).

We are looking for an open, egalitarian language, in which every story and every "feeling" has its own voice. We are looking for a language that does not exclude, for which the basis is not only knowledge or cultural competence. We want scenarios in which there is no one right answer. We are looking for our place in the world of the crisis of writing and the crisis of attention. We are checking whether the language of the senses can be a language in which we can all communicate.


* How do we do it?

 During seminars and workshops we will work, check, ask questions. Our project is a laboratory where we will test solutions which can be transferred to other areas of social activities. We will smell, touch, talk.

We will see if narratives built on the experience of textures, smells, and tastes can give everyone a voice. We will test multi-sensory narratives. During the workshops, we will deal with everyday objects as well as paintings, sculptures, photographs, and student films. We will try to find languages of description which are open, diverse, and organic.

This will create a unique audio library which will house works of art, etudes, curatorial texts and our most immediate, subcutaneous everyday life.
