Our photography student, Eryk Siemianowicz, will lead a unique cyanotype workshop during the Łódź Voivodeship Week at the World Exhibition Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai.
On 30, April and 1, May, outdoors, under the Japanese sky, participants will be able to create their own unique photographic print using the cyanotype method — one of the oldest and most magical techniques of photography.
The photography workshops are part of the activities carried out by the Marshal's Office of the Łódź Voivodeship, as part of the official presentation of Poland, coordinated by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH).
What is cyanotype? It is a 19th-century photographic technique in which an image is created under the influence of UV light on paper covered with a photosensitive emulsion. The characteristic deep blue - the indigo colour - symbolizes peace, harmony and elegance in Japanese culture, adding an extraordinary atmosphere to the workshops.
What awaits the workshop participants?
- Creating their own cyanotypes based on frames from the archives of the Lodz Film School
- Stories about the School.
- Gallery of masters — profiles of Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieślowski and Małgorzata Szumowska on traditional Japanese sashimono banners in front of the Polish Pavilion.
- A souvenir for life — each participant will take home a unique, selfmade print signed with the School's logo and an interesting fact about it.
