Another success of our lecturer, Prof. Izabela Łapińska. Her book SKIN has been included in the program of the 5th edition of the International Art Book Triennial which starts on 28, Nov. in Slovakia

The Art Book Triennial is a platform in the Central European cultural space, bringing together creators for whom the author's book has become a permanent source of artistic inspiration. A diverse approach to the book in the context of contemporary visual art gives its creators unlimited possibilities, opens up space for experiments, playing with form, content and communication with the viewer. This year's project of the author's book exhibition in Martin examines not only the process of creating the work itself, but also its place and importance in the context of contemporary visual art and book culture in general by selecting specific artistic personalities from the Visegrad Four countries.

Exhibitions of the International Art Book Triennial are planned in the Visegrad Group countries:

* Turčianska galéria v Martine, Slovakia: 28/11/2024 - 18/2/2025
* Muzeum Umění Olomouc, The Czech Republic: 6/3/2025 - 25/5/2025
* Muzeum Książki Artystycznej in Łódź, Poland: July – September, 2025
* Miskolci Galéria, Węgry: October – December, 2025

The event is organized by Turiec Region Gallery in cooperation with the Olomouc Museum of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, the E. Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and the Hungarian Artist's Book Association.

Project financed by the Slovak Arts Council.

The book "Skin" is the culmination of four photographic projects "Naked Face", "Meristem", "Biopsy" and "Autopsy" by Izabela Łapińska. It is a summary of the penetration of the body shell, human skin, but also animal and vegetable skin. The photographic search for features common to living and non-living creatures reveals similarities in the structure of tissue, reveals unusual structures and forms, both imperceptible and those consciously omitted in contemporary culture and the sphere of the body. The book "Skin" is a good excuse to change one’s attitude towards a foreign body, but above all towards your own body. It can be a contribution to reflection on the need for self-acceptance.

The book was published by the Lodz Film School Publishing House.
