We know the winners of the 31st ETIUDA&ANIMA IFF competitions; among them our students. Awards and distinctions for the films DEBTORS, A HANDFUL OF DUST, LAMENT NO. 1 & THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE FOREST
At the Festival, which ended on Sunday, 27, October, the Jury awarded prizes to the best films.
We wrote about the selection of our films for the festival in our previous news filmschool.lodz.pl/news.
Among the winners there are our students, graduates, a lecturer and a PhD student.
The Jury of the Etiuda Competition consisting of:
Katarzyna Warzecha (Poland)
Viera Čákanyová (Slovakia)
Alexandra Roberta Serban (Romania) decided to award the prizes:
* Silver Dinosaur *
DEBTORS dir. Andrzej Danis (documentary)
Jury statement: The author brilliantly deconstructs personal reality, using fictional and performative elements to better express the traumatic experiences of his characters. He opens up discussion on the important and often overlooked topic of alimony.
* Honourable Mention *
A HANDFUL OF DUST dir. Izabela Zubrycka (documentary)
Jury statement: A poetic and funny audiovisual meditation touching on the themes of life and death, featuring one of the last funeral singers and her son.
as well as
LAMENT NO. 1 dir. Jakub Jakubik (fiction)
Jury statement: A skillfully constructed work presenting a constellation of absurd and authentic characters who experience the death of a loved one.
* Audience Award *
DEBTORS, dir. Andrzej Danis
The Anima.PL competition jury consisting of:
Przemysław Adamski (Poland)
Nik Phelps (USA/Belgium)
Pedro Harres (Brazil)
* Special Golden Viper for the Best Animated Student Film *
THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE FOREST dir. Szymon Ruczyński
Jury statement: The film "There Are People in the Forest" explores a serious political issue in a stark style which further emphasizes its obvious absurdity. It uses rhythm in a very mature way and broadens the audience's awareness of this important topic.
Here are our other winners - graduates, lecturer and PhD student:
* Grand Prix Golden Viper of the ANIMA.PL competition Jury and Honourable Mention of the ANIMA competition Jury for JOKO dir. Izabela Plucińska (animation graduate)
* Bronze Viper of the Anima.PL competition jury for the film CUD dir. Ewa Borysewicz (PhD student)
* Audience Award for the film POTATOES dir. Marcin Podolec (animation graduate and lecturer)
* Przemysław Adamski Special Mention and Audience Award for the film ZIMA dir. Tomek Popakul (animation graduate), Kasumi Ozeki
* ANIMA.PL Student competition Jury Award for the film KONIUNKCJA dir. Marta Magnuska (animation graduate).
