* Education Action - Passionate about Cinema *
Academic zeal, a relaxed atmosphere, experts from all over Poland and an unlimited stream of knowledge – this is how Education Action presents itself. During the series of meetings of people of science and cinema, there will be no shortage of people associated with the Film School. One of the special events will be a meeting about the book " "Lending the Mind: How the Viewer Follows the Hero in the Film Essay" by Jan Bąk, a screenwriting student at the Lodz Film School. In his work, he took on an extremely difficult topic, which is video essay writing, which will be discussed by Kuba Mikurda, head of the film essay studio, and Zuzanna Banasińska, whose film "Grandmamauntsistercat" will be presented as part of the FILM ESSAY section. The event will take place on 27, October (Sunday) at 12:15 at the Film Museum.

As part of the Education Action, there will also be workshops on Sound in Film (Saturday, 26, October at 10 a.m.), led by Katarzyna Szczerba, a PhD student of our school. Workshop participants will learn about the methods of constructing an audio layer, familiarize themselves with a screenplay, which they will confront with the final work, analyzing each element of the soundtrack of a film selected by the leader.

Krystyna Kantor and Joanna Szymańska, a PhD student at our school, will talk about the production side of the film "RED PATH" (Saturday, 26, October, 6:25 p.m.). "RED PATH" is a story about what happens when terrorist activities become a dark everyday reality. After the screening, the festival guests will talk about how a co-production is created in unusual conditions, what the requirements are of co-producers and what the audiences, scattered across many countries, expect.

An integral part of the Festival is the Critic Writes Competition, aimed at authors of critical texts on film topics who wish to develop their critical and analytical skills. Participation in the Competition allows you to take your first steps in the film industry. The Jury of Film Creators includes, among others, a graduate of the Faculty of Film Art Organization, Luiza Skrzek, who will select the most interesting works.

Films by graduates and students of the Lodz Film School are also present in the Authors’ Spotlight competition. The selection includes films such as “MoMo & LuLu” by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi, “Empty Spaces” by Marta Koch, “Dancing in the Corner” by Jan Bujnowski, “Good Guy” by Mikołaj Piszczan and “Naked Eye” by Helena Oborska. * Discussions are the essence of CAF *

The highlight of each edition of the Camera Action Festival are discussions with invited guests and experts. The essence of the Łódź cinema festival is the opportunity to listen to people working in the industry. This year we will focus on discussions oscillating around the biggest problems facing the industry, the main slogans of which are "prime-time" about the Polish TV series market, "sensitivity" about censorship, cancel culture and nostalgia, and "network" - about dependencies in the film industry.

* Cinema that encourages discussion *

As every year, viewers will be able to see the most famous productions from international festivals. Among others, they will be able to watch a review of the work of this year's revelation, the French director, Coralie Fargeat. In addition to her short films, her feature debut "Revenge" (Saturday, 26, October, 5 p.m.) and her latest film "Substance" (Saturday, 26, October, 12:15) with Demi Moore in the lead role will also be presented.

The Critical Premieres section also includes the long-awaited film "Appetite for More. La Cocina" (Thursday, 24, October 7 p.m.) starring the mesmerizing Rooney Mara. The CAF screens will also feature a review of Romanian cinema, starring Radu Jude, a director who won the Golden Bear in Berlin a few years ago. The director returns with the acclaimed title "Don't Promise Yourself Too Much After the End of the World" (Friday, 25, October, 7 p.m.), which won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Festival.

* Cinema icons on the big screen *

This year's edition is patronized by the greatest icons of cinema, including Greta Garbo, Alfred Hitchcock, Dorothy Arzner and Orson Welles. The film programme reflects a combination of "old" and "new"; in addition to contemporary hits, "Ninotchka" (Friday, 25, October, 9:40 a.m.), for which Greta Garbo received an Oscar nomination, will appear on the screen. The work of director Dorothy Arzner, whose film “Dance, Girl, Dance” (Sunday, 27, October, 9 a.m.) had a huge influence on feminist cinema, will also be recalled. Fans of thrillers can expect a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s cult film “Psycho”, the director’s cut of which will be shown on 26, October (Saturday) at 10 a.m. in Monopolis. Festival participants can also expect a retrospective of the leading French filmmaker Claude Sautet, who gained international fame for his film “Slice of Life” (Friday, 25, October 4:45 p.m., Film Museum), which is part of the festival programme.
