The 34th National Film Studies Conference will be held in Uniejów from 17 to 20, October. The Lodz Film School is a Partner of the event.
The 34th National Film Studies Conference will be held at the Castle of the Archbishops of Gniezno and at the House of Creative Work in Uniejów (2, Zamkowa Street) on from 17 to 20, October, 2024. The topic of the meeting is Cinema of Tomorrow. New Tendencies in Audiovisual Culture as a Challenge for Education.
The conference is addressed to teachers and educators working with students at all stages of education. We will therefore address the issues of image manipulation, special effects and the end of faith in the authenticity of film images, new animation techniques, artificial intelligence in the context of creative activities (AI as a scriptwriter, director and film reviewer), virtual reality and interactive films, new forms of distribution and exploitation of audiovisual works, algorithmization of taste, automatic ratings, matching the offer to individual preferences, individualization of the offer, globality and locality in the world of streaming services.
The guests of the conference will be graduates and lecturers of our School: director Magnus von Horn and film producer Mariusz Włodarski. The program includes lectures and film studies analyses, film screenings, and a film music concert performed by the Alla Vienna Łódź Philharmonic group.
Their participation in the event has been confirmed by, among others, prof. Katarzyna Mąka-Malatyńska (Vice-Rector for Science and Artistic Creativity of our school), dr Piotr Pławuszewski (UAM), dr Sylwia Szostak (SWPS), Jacek Nagłowski (vnLab, lecturer of our School), dr Sławomir Kalwinek (lecturer of our School), Dominik Wawrzyniak (Platige Image). The conference will be led by prof. Piotr Sitarski (UŁ).
The live broadcast of the discussion on "What kind of cinema do viewers need today? The social and cultural significance of film" with the participation of Magnus von Horn, Mariusz Włodarski, Katarzyna Mąka-Malatyńska and Sylwia Szostak will be available at the link: https://www.youtube.com/live/wzxZdf3xjjE. The discussion will take place on 18, October (Friday) at 11:00 a.m.
All conference sessions will be held at the Uniejów Castle. Participants will be accommodated at the Castle, the House of Creative Work, and La Familia TYBURA. The accreditation fee of PLN 720 covers participation in the sessions, conference materials, meals, accommodation, and entry to Termy Uniejów. It is possible (for an additional fee of PLN 40 one way) to use coach transport from Łódź (from the Łódź Kaliska and Łódź Widzew PKP stations) to Uniejów on 17, October and from Uniejów to Łódź (to the Łódź Kaliska and Łódź Widzew PKP stations) on 20, October, after the event has finished.
The conference is held under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship Joanna Skrzydlewska and the Mayor of Uniejów Józef Kaczmarek.
