The Grand Prix in the Documentary Film Competition of the Man in Danger Media Festival, the White Cobra Statuette, funded by the City of Łódź, was awarded to our School's PhD student, Edyta Wróblewska for the film GDY POWIEJE HARMATTAN. The verdict was presented by the Jury consisting of: Mariusz Wilczyński, Marek Horodniczy, Irena Piłatowska-Mądry, Małgorzata Staroń and Joanna Talczewska.

The editor of the film GDY POWIEJE HARMATTAN is Anna Garncarczyk, a graduate of editing at our School.

Edyta Wróblewska is a PhD student at the Directing Department of the Lodz Film School, director of award-winning films: PRL DE LUXE, ALA Z ELEMENTARZA and MAŁE INSTRUMENTY.

Synopsis: Barbara is 25 years old and lives in Accra, the capital of Ghana. As an eight-year-old girl, she shared the fate of thousands of Ghanaian children given away by their own parents to slave-line hard work. For many years, she functioned in a world full of abuse, violence and fear, but she survived. Despite her anger at what happened to her, Barbara supports her parents and pays for her younger brothers' school. However, their expectations are constantly growing. One day, together with her oldest brother, Kweku, Barbara goes to her parents to help solve their problems. Before this happens, she must ask them questions that she has been thinking about all her adult life.

The organiser of the Man in Danger Media Festival is the Film Museum in Łódź.
