The universities that are part of the Łódź Academic Partnership jointly inaugurated the 2024/2025 academic year at the Łódź Philharmonic Hall.

The new academic year 2024/2025 was inaugurated jointly at the Łódź Philharmonic Hall by the Rectors, Senates, Students and PhD students of universities associated in the Łódź Academic Partnership, which are: the University of Łódź, the Łódź Polytechnic, the Medical University of Łódź, the Lodz Film School, the Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Music. This is the second joint inauguration of the academic year of Łódź universities.

“ŁAP is formed by six universities with diverse profiles, the strength of which is anchored in eighty years of tradition. Each of our schools with its unique identity is an equal entity in cooperation, while maintaining its distinctiveness. We draw from this rich potential in scientific, didactic and social activities,” said Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of the Lodz Polytechnic.

The main part of the ceremony was the matriculation of students and doctoral students - each of the Rectors matriculated representatives of their University. Rector of our School, Milenia Fiedler, matriculated first-year students Julia Komorowska and Krzysztof Tomaszewski in person.

The guests of the ceremony: Dorota Ryl, Voivode of Lodz; Joanna Skrzydlewska, Marshal of the Lodz Voivodeship; Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of the City of Lodz and Adrian Witczak, Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, also addressed students who are starting or continuing their academic paths.

On behalf of all Rectors of universities associated in ŁAP, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of Lodz Polytechnic, addressed students and doctoral students. “Dear students - some of you are starting a beautiful stage in your lives today. I wish you passion, determination and commitment on your path to personal development. May gaining new experiences be satisfying and enriching for you. I hope you meet inspiring masters on this path who will open up a fascinating world of science and passion to you. Studies are also a time for establishing beautiful friendships, having fun and developing your interests. The offer of student scientific clubs, organizations and associations is very rich, I encourage you to get involved in them. Increase your possibilities and take advantage of this beautiful time.”

The inaugural lecture entitled "Why do we need the fourteenth Alice? Or on the point of repeated translations" was delivered by Prof. Jerzy Jarniewicz, poet, translator, literary scholar, laureate of the 2022 NIKE Literary Award.

This year, the Choir of the Medical University of Lodz was in charge of the musical setting of the event, and the ceremony was crowned by a violin quartet concert by students of the Lodz Academy of Music.
