URBAN LEGENDS and TIZER are two photography exhibitions that we present at the International Photography Festival INTERPHOTO in Białystok. The festival is on this weekend!
The INTERPHOTO Festival runs from 26, September to 30, October.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL: The formation of philosophical and social thought of different cultures and their mutual interpenetration as elements creating the contemporary world order and the code of visual communication are the basis of the museum and private collections presented during this year's edition of the festival, as well as individual and collective exhibitions. We present them to the audience in accordance with Aby Warburg's method of iconographic analysis. "Collecting Worlds" as the theme of the festival illustrates the human need to organize and describe everything around as a form that builds harmony and opposes the chaos of the Universe.
This year, two exhibitions by photography students and lecturers of the Lodz Film School will be hosted in Białystok.
* T I Z E R * We know their works, we know their path. However, the most important question we ask ourselves is the one about the motivations, the thoughts focused around their work. The TIZER exhibition is the finale of a project which focuses on artists creating in various contexts of photography, showing the idea behind them. We will get to know it thanks to the records of conversations about their work. The exhibition emphasizes the artistic attitude of the creators and the theory of photographic art. It is a verbal record of what we can see in galleries every day.

URBAN LEGENDS is a photographic project created on the fantasies of Lodz Film School photography students of the 2nd and 4th year. The illustrated stories reach straight to examples of the 20th century avant-garde, only to turn towards afterimages from horror films after a while. The basis for creating the stories is the city of Łódź, the inspiration is gossip, meme and fake news, and everything is connected by the world of everlasting renovation and construction works. The project is the result of cooperation between the studios of Szymon Kobusiński and Bownik, lecturers at the Film School.
Artists: Łukasz Biernat, Paulina Byczek, Ewa Januszewska, Monika Jóźwicka, Mikołaj Marciniak, Benedykt Rogala, Wojtek Serowik, Eryk Siemianowicz, Karolina Smołka, Krzysiek Szpryngiel, Jeremiasz Wesołek, Ania Zegar.
