Julia Orlik is the heroine of the series of the National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź. Meeting with the creator and her films on 16, July at 6 p.m.

"In the original series of the Second Screening - "Promising Names of Polish Cinema", we will be presenting to the National Centre for Film Culture audience the hottest young names in Polish cinema who are just about to make their first full-length feature or are already doing so. Each month, we will show you films by selected filmmakers. Often they will be short films which are still too rarely seen, but definitely worth watching. The creators will discuss the films they have shot and their approaches to making them in interviews hosted by Marta Chylińska and Mateusz Żebrowski, but above all, about what and who inspires and what drives them to create, as well as where their unique style comes from. We invite you to discover the promising names of Polish cinema together! – write the event organizers.

The heroine of the upcoming meeting in the series will be Julia Orlik, an animation graduate from our School, currently a lecturer, who has been awarded many times for her films at Polish and international film festivals.

On 16, July (Tuesday) at 6.00 p.m. in the Odeon Hall of the National Centre for Film Culture, there will be a screening of Julia Orlik's films followed by a meeting with the author. We highly recommend it!

The programme includes the following films:

MY STRANGE ELDER BROTHER (13 min)
The main character is a workaholic who subordinates her entire life to work. She believes that this is the only right path and even though it does not bring her happiness, she stubbornly maintains her position. Her older brother has a completely opposite attitude to life and, seeing the way his sister lives, tries to convince her to change. He often behaves eccentrically, embarrassing his sister in front of her colleagues and slowly making her life miserable. At some point, the sister gets fed up with her brother's insistence, which leads to frequent arguments and eventually to breaking off contact.

I'M HERE (15 min)
An elderly man is looking after his paralyzed wife. Despite his old age and health problems he's doing his best to relieve her suffering which is getting worse day by day. His daughter helps him, trying to balance the care she gives her mother with her work in the hospital as well as her own family life. Everyone has a different view on how to properly care for the sick woman, which often causes arguments.

THIS IS NOT A FESTIVAL FILM (8 min)
This one-sentence synopsis is like the film - non-festival like. “An animated short about a film school student who is working on her graduation film.”

QUIDQUID LATINE DICTUM SIT, ALTUM VIDETUR (15 min)
Wire girl doesn't want to be made of wire anymore, so she sets off on a journey to find a solution to her problem.
