At the Nowy Theatre in Łódź, singing and dancing, we opened the most energetic, sparkling and exciting theatre festival. The 42nd Festival of Drama Schools started with a cocktail bang!

A fantastic, shaken and well-stirred show of the third-year acting students from the Lodz Film School prepared by the lecturer of the acting department, Wacław Mikłaszewski, inaugurated the 42nd Drama Schools’ Festival.

There were songs and melorecitations, there was dance and acrobatics, there was energy whose taste we will remember for a long time!

"It’s not cool,
I don’t know, I may be drowning.
I must remember though,
that I’ve always wanted to be an actor/actress!”

With these words, on 20, May, the students welcomed guests to the K. Dejmek Nowy Theatre in Łódź, among them:
* Agnieszka Hejduk-Domańska, director of the Art Education Department of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage;
* Małgorzata Moskwa-Wodnicka, vice president of the City of Łódź;
* Bartosz Domaszewicz, chairman of the Łódź City Council;
* Marcin Derengowski, director of the Culture Department of the City of Łódź;
* Ewa Leśniak, vice president of ZASP;
* Konrad Michalak, Vice -President of ZZAP;
* Elżbieta Manthey, head of the "ADiT" Drama and Theatre Agency;
* Paweł Lasek, representative of the Uni-LEX group;

as well as all founders, partners, patrons and media patrons.

The students also welcomed their final-year colleagues, who were just about to graduate. During the 42nd DSF, they will present their diploma shows, the last ones carried out in their alma Mater, with their peers from the diploma year.

They came from national drama schools throughout Poland: the Theatre Academy in Warsaw and its Branch in Białystok, the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow and its branches in Wrocław and Bytom, as well as the Lodz Film School.

In the festival journey, they will be accompanied by our excellent jury: Katarzyna Kalwat, Jacek Kopciński, Anka Sasnal, Agnieszka Smoczyńska and Eliza Kujan (MKiDN).

For a moment, the stage was taken over by rectors of art schools - Milenia Fiedler, PhD (Film School in Łódź), Prof. Dorota Segda, (AST in Krakow) and Prof. Wiesław Czołpiński, (rector elect of AT in Warsaw).

"Dear guests, dear audience, creators, viewers! I am glad you are here with us, I wish you all to experience good theatre!" The Lodz Film School rector, Milenia Fiedler, turned to the audience. And then, all the rectors announced the 42nd Drama Schools’ Festival open.
Over the next week - we invite you to diploma shows. Let's look for daring performances!
