The film by Mariusz Rusiński, a directing student at our School, wins more awards. Congratulations!

We are pleased to announce further awards for the documentary film SISTER OF MINE, directed by our student, Mariusz Rusiński, (film production: Munk Studio).

The following prizes have recently been added to the already large collection of awards for this film:

* Ostrowidz Award in the Young Docs 14+ category at the LET’S DOC Festival in Warsaw

Jury Statement: "We were moved by the authenticity that radiated from this film. We felt like we were in the middle of this story, something the best documentaries can do. We were positively surprised by the presentation of the main character as a sensitive and passionate person. The director did it in an extremely warm way, with empathy and tenderness. The camera was a cure and a form of therapy for the whole family and helped bring them back together. This film is much more than a story about drug addiction".

* The Best Teen Dox Film Award at the Zagreb Dox International Documentary Film Festival

Jury Statement: “This year the Teen Dox category had many truly outstanding films and it was not easy to decide on the winner. Despite that, our choice stands out in the crowd because it very authentically and honestly portrays the extremely frequent problem of addiction among teenagers, underlining the devastating effect on a family. In a very intimate way, the film depicts the feelings of all the family members, opening the door to their living spaces. The documentary centres around uncensored conversations among family members, revealing the dark side of growing up with addition. The documentary Sister of Mine by Polish director Mariusz Rusinski deeply shocked us and reminded us of the ever-present problems of the young population. Therefore, we give it the best Teen Dox film award. ".

Her brother, the film's director, decides to take a closer look at the family to understand what could have led to this situation. This is not only a story about overcoming addiction, but also about the great influence that family relationships have on the specific decisions of its members. The director focuses the camera on his loved ones in the most intimate moments and tries to detect flashpoints and sources of conflicts and lack of mutual understanding.
