He studied cinematography at our School. Last night, he won the most important film award for cinematography in the film OPPENHEIMER directed by Christopher Nolan. We are bursting with pride!

One of his first contacts with film was cooperation in the production of Iwona Siekierzyńska’s student film PAŃCIA (1995), whose artistic supervisor was Krzysztof Kieślowski. At the Lodz Film School, Hoytema shot the following student films: BAT SOUP, directed by Ewa Fedak, ASYLUM. LUBLIN. POLAND directed by Kate Forshaw, IN SMUTNA STREET IN ŁÓDŹ and TIDEWATER by Nathilde Overrein Rapp.

Last night, Hoyte van Hoytema, who studied at the Cinematography Faculty of our School, won the Oscar for cinematography for the film OPPENHEIMER directed by Christoper Nolan.

We are bursting with pride and congratulate him on this most important success in one’s professional career!

OPPENHEIMER is the story of the American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in creating the atom bomb. Nominated in thirteen categories, Christopher Nolan's biographical drama was awarded The American Film Academy Award in seven categories, including the most important ones, i.e., best film, best director, best leading actor and best supporting actor.

The statuettes were presented at the Hollywood Dolby Theater for the 96th time.
